Steltz did well this year, from what I saw. Especially in that 2nd Vikings game.

He's pretty good, for a guy that runs like an octopus. Like the field is covered with 4 feet of peanut butter.

Ha Ha's water boy?

I would be perfectly happy with that. These are the current safeties:

Chris Conte
M. D. Jennings
Derrick Martin
Danny McCray
Ryan Mundy
Craig Steltz

Somebody from the draft has got to contribute right away.

Steltz is a great signing for how good the worst safety on the team should be.

If the #4 guy can beat out Steltz....cut him great. but if he is your last guy at least you get intelligence and hands out of it.

Emery also proves once again he will not enter the draft with a

MUST draft position.

The patchwork method however does not accumulate any compensatory picks, so we'll see how his management philosophy evolves as he builds the offense and defense he is looking for.

I've seen bad depth charts before but that's atrocious.

This safety depth chart right now is hilarious, like Raiders level of talent bad.

Sound like a broken record but hoping Melton is back so DT isn't a huge need going into the draft and hopefully a premium good pick is spent on a good safety to bump up that practice squad collection of talent.

  1. Syracuse Orange
R.Mundy will be our SS (box safety) and our FS will be coming from the draft.

It sounds like Emery is really high on Mundy and had him up there on his FA board. I dont get what he sees in Mundy but hopefully he could turn up his play on the field a little bit.

Derrick Martin has been eternally listed as a S, but he has ONLY played CB for the Bears. In fact, he came on the field at CB when Jennings missed a few plays in the Green Bay season finale.

i like steltz better than wright or conte, but really, they all suck. Ha Ha/Pryor 1st AND Ward/Bucannon 2nd? Too much? (Assuming Donald goes before #14.) Or maybe Donald 1st, Ward/Bucannon 2nd and Brooks 3rd?

We've signed so many backups and special team stars that I am not sure if we have any true starters on the team. Hopefully some guys emerge in camp.
when emery said there is going to be an open competition at safety he was telling the truth. even if we draft a top safety, the competition there will likely be the biggest in training camp.

Steltz haters forgot that a football roster requires depth/ST guys.

Steltz is a bad everything. I don't understand the cult following he has around here.

And people who likes Steltz and think he is a solid backup/ST player could say the same thing about the people who dont like him too much.
