should be a busier IST with baez up. wtf has happened to wood? I end up always catching an arrieta start or an ejax start...woods numbers look bad. is is location?

His WHIP is way up, and going to Coors Field is no remedy for that stat. Thank GOD he can hit is all I can say.
You can't have him and E-Jax in the rotation together. The Cubs will never be able to put very many winning streaks together if that stays the same.

Last year wood's BABIP was .248. This year it's .325. Use whatever logic you want for the why(location pitch selection..etc) but ultimately that's the issue. He's also giving up slightly more homers which lifts your ERA a bit but like I said I think the biggest aspect is the fact he's getting hit more. His walk rate at 3.90 isn't particularly good this year either.
Overall, I'd say it's probably a regression to the mean since a .250 BABIP is pretty absurd. However, I think he's better than this. The walk rate in particular is up about a full walk per 9 over his career average. Last year his FIP had him at a 3.89 pitcher. That seems about right. Some where between a 3 and a 4.

Oh, people need to expect Baez to suck. If he comes out the gates running, it may be the worst thing for him with this fan base. He is going to struggle at some point. Im just glad I am able to watch the ride.
Also, Wood pitch locations have been awful. He has always been a fly ball pitcher, but he is really getting hit this year. He was effective last year because he was spotting his cutter inside and out. He doesnt have the same control this year. Also, its probably a bit of bad luck as well. He was a bit lucky last year and I think it is just the baseball God's evening it out.

I can see him having a pretty big game. He's been on fire lately. Great players tend to shine. They won't know his strike zone too much. He's going up against a lefty and Colorado. Yeah, I can see a big game. Kinda like Mendy having a big game his 1st game up.
