Hawks currently own the #27, #62, #88, #98, #141, #148, #178 and #208 draft picks this year.

Seen a lot of mock drafts and to be honest, the Hawks are all over the place without many people agreeing on the same thing. Seen Ivan Barbashev (Russian playing in the Q) and Dylan Larkin (US-18 team. Michigan next year) a couple times, though Larkins stock has rose a bit last few weeks.

This year, there really is no favorite for me like in the past. Wouldn't mind Barbashev or Thatcher Demko (goalie from Boston College and ranked the highest in the draft) as I think the Hawks could use some skilled players in the pipeline and a goalie of the future.

I'll try and keep this updated throughout the night.

Also would expect the Hawks to do a lot of drafting from the USHL (US national team or junior kids who will be going to college) as well as Swedish kids.

College bound players because they have 4 years to develop, and swedes because they like them and they really develop the finer points of technical skills thought out youth and junior age (side note: Id love to live in Sweden for a year and learn their hockey philosophy and development. One of the best in the world).

Wouldn't use a first round pick on a goalie though.

Maybe not, but we're closer to the end of the round. That might as well be considered a 2nd rounder. -.- Gotta draft the best person available first, or go with the position of need.

I'm not a huge fan of drafting a goalie in the 1st round either. That said, Demko is supposedly really good and since we don't have a 2nd rounder, I would be opposed to it.

I also wouldn't oppose a skilled forward as we don't have many in the pipeline.

If Sang is available come 3rd round, wouldn't mind seeing the Hawks take a chance on him.

Loved how Tallon kept everyone in suspense an extra 30 seconds before naming Ekblad the 1st pick..

Canucks were offering 2 1st round picks (one being the #6) and one of their 1st round prospects from last year.

Draisaitl gets picked by the Oilers and speculation begins that Gagner is on the block. I could see the Oilers maybe interested in a guy like Sharp or Seabs...

Looking at the Oilers cap room and lineup, Sharp, Seabs, Leddy, Oduya, could all fit on that team and help them out as well as help us get Gagner.

Just a pipe dream...
