Spring training invitations:
The Cubs announced Friday that they have invited 19 non-roster players to spring training, which begins in Mesa, Ariz., on Feb. 19. Pitchers and catchers will have their first workout on Feb. 20. Position players report Feb. 24, with the first full-squad workout the Feb. 25.
Pitchers:
Right-handers - Daniel Bard, Corey Black, Anthony Carter, Jorge De Leon, Pierce Johnson, Armando Rivero and Donn Roach.
Left-handers - Francisley Bueno and Hunter Cervenka.
Infielders: Kris Bryant, Jonathan Herrera, Addison Russell, Chris Valaika and Logan Watkins.
Note: Watkins, however, will not be working out as he announced on Twitter that he tore his Achilles' tendon during a pre-spring training workout in Arizona.
Outfielders: Albert Almora, Mike Baxter and Adron Chambers.
Catchers: Kyle Schwarber and Taylor Teagarden.
