Replace the 2nd round pick with best available DT/NT and I would be comfortable with draft.

Cooper and White are both nice prospects, but with the Bears QB situation heading back to flux, and them moving to a more conservative offense, and the historical badness of rookie wide receivers I would feel better if they drafted a lineman or
linebacker.

Sent from under the tree of Yggdrasil.

too talented to pass up....fuck need

Unless cooper is the next Jerry rice I would pass on him.

Cobb can ball. If he makes it to the 3rd, I would take him too. Minnesota had no threat of a pass and he always produced big numbers in the big ten. Very impressive.
Straight line runner. Illinois had the guy stuffed all game. Yeah. Illinois' defense. He busted one for 67. Otherwise he had 21 carries for 51 yards. I'm not sure about the pick, but they certainly need to reload at the RB position. Forte is at the end of his career.

It would be hard to pass up one of the OLB's if they're on the board. But White & Cooper sure are tempting.

And some experts have indeed made this comparison, but doesn't this happen every year? Wasn't that kid who went to the Jaguars first Wr picked in that draft as well, and now he's out of football? >shrugs<

BPA is BPA, if the Bears end up with either Wr that will mean something really weird happened above them in the draft, like 2 QB's and 4 DT/OLB/DE's taken.

I'm all for BPA but if let's say, hypothetically that cooper is a 9, and not a big need and say, Beasley is available and he's an 8.5 and a bigger need than WR, I'm taking the pass rusher. Alshon is our young WR to build around....there's only one ball to go around and seein how we're going to be run heavy, I don't think cooper brings as much value to the team.

I just can't get excited about these skinny Dion Jordan type OLBs as top 10 picks. If there's a trade partner in the middle of the round who wants a guy badly, I would love to trade down and get Arik Armstead (has the raw talent be become a pro bowl 5 tech in Fangio's defense) or Eli Harold (who I think could be our Aldon Smith just as likely as any of these top 4 pass rushers who go) and pick up an extra pick in the top few rounds.

This team needs as many good young players as possible and unless they see the guy at 7 as hands down better, I say do it.

Arthur Arkush chimes in with his Bears' mock...

What will the Chicago Bears do, not just at pick No. 7 of the first round, but through the rest of the draft?

This is a first pass-through at what the Bears could do in the first six rounds. Mock Drafts are more for fun and conversation than anything else and we hope you’ll have a blast with ours. But please keep in mind they will continue to change several more times between now and the draft.

Round 1: EDGE Randy Gregory/Nebraska – His floor is lower than Pace would like for his first-ever pick, but Gregory’s length, explosion and flexibility around edge could make him Vic Fangio’s Aldon Smith.

Round 2: WR Sammie Coates/Auburn – OC Adam Gase and WR coach Mike Groh form a dream tandem to develop Coates, who’s raw but possesses No. 1 traits, most importantly top-end speed. (See: Demaryius Thomas’ growth under Gase.)

Round 3: DE Preston Smith/Mississippi State – Desperate for five-techniques, they land ideal fit in Smith, with the height to see over tall offensive linemen, strength to shut down the run game, and enough penetration skills to figure into the pass rush.

Round 4: RB Mike Davis/South Carolina – A John Fox-type of back who gets stronger as the game wears on, Davis has the patience, vision and finishing capability to instantly complement Forte, potentially be his heir apparent.

Round 5: DE B.J. Dubose/Louisville – At 6-4, 284, Dubose has an intriguing blend of size and rush ability to warrant interest as a five tech, plus the Louisville connection to OLBs coach Clint Hurtt.

Round 6: CB Ladarius Gunter/Miami – Senior Bowl standout who competes hard and boasts the coveted length, ball skills and run-support willingness to be molded by accomplished secondary coach Ed Donatell.

Why? It brings in good talent to compete at positions of dire need (most notably 5 tech and CB) and a potentially explosive play maker to replace Marshall.

If anything I would rather trade down in the first and get Eli Harold as the pass rusher in the middle of the round because I think he'll be as good, and use the extra pick on a RT, but other than that I like it ok.

Preston Smith has the potential to be an excellent pro. I think Fangio would mold this kid into a beast.

i agree. it's a draft full of projects. i don't like gregory. 240 6'5 is to small for a full time outside linebacker in a 3-4. he's a major boom or bust prospect. ditto coates. way to risky with so many other solid prospects in this draft. guys got terrible hands.

i don't mind preston smith but he's not a 5 technique in this scheme, he's an outside linebacker. seems redundant with the number of guys on the roster who are already at that spot.

i wouldn't touch mike davis until the 6th round. there are 15 backs i'd take over davis.

The only way this regime can even begin to reinstill the slightest faith is by drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds.

Even though this QB class plain sucks. They draft a QB before the 8th round I will lose faith.

I noticed the same thing... If this actually happens, dupree in the 2nd would be a steal.

No doubt. I think this coaching staff would get everything out of DuPree. I would be thrilled by that scenario.
