Wow, but he may have not violated the rules if he only got the necessary amount of money for expenses. Another sticky situation for UK

100k seem quite reasonable for 3 years. It was probably for essentials and maybe a little spending cash.

He will be a beast someday

Not surprising news, I'm sure UK will weasel their way out of this somehow.

Have they busted them for the 250K they paid out for Anthony Davis yet?

Deniz Kilicli was banned for half a season for playing on an amateur team that ended up having a paid player.

This guy gets PAID 100k, and it'll probably only be a slap on the wrist!!!!!

Fucking epic bullshit

He'll play, UK will lose in the final 4 - and two years from now, when people start digging harder, it'll be discovered that he was paid $2M or so for those 3 years...Calipari will go coach a team like UConn, UK will be stripped of their final 4...it's a pretty endless cycle w/ Cal.

To be fair to Calipari, he technically hasn't broken any rules quite yet. If you think about it, offering Kanter a scholarship was really a win-win for Cal, as long as the NCAA made a ruling before the season started.

Cal didn't give Kanter money, the team in Europe did. By offering Kanter a scholarship he got a potential star on his roster, knowing the entire time there was a chance (a really good one) that Kanter wouldn't make it onto the court at UK.
