I would love to hear the internal conversations about how Chapman might fit in. Also were any players consulted?
I remember a few weeks ago someone asked Rizzo about Chapman and he said hed welcome him..

These guys are professional and they have 1 goal in mind this year and if Chapman helps them reach that goal, what to complain about

To a certain degree. The Cubs seem to have great chemistry in the clubhouse and the players have common traits toward cooperation and teamwork. It's evident in their interviews and interaction on the field.

But I dont believe everyone is welcome in the clubhouse. Papelbon comes to mind.

Joe Maddon seems like the perfect manager to be a voice between the players and the front office if anyone feels there would be a problem with Chapman.

Its not for just Torres, they are saying Torres, Candelairo, and Warren. Thats a hell of a haul for Chapman that is not very happy about leaving mid season.

Not everyone going to like or hang out with every teammate.. I'm sure there a few who would like to punch Lackey in mouth. but they all have a job to do with a goal set and as long as their working hard in achieving that goal and no-one dogging anyone, then all good..

Maybe I missed it, but I've yet to see anything from reds or Yankees players saying anything bad about Chapman being a bad teammate or clubhouse poison.

I heard no on Candelario...

I've read so many different scenarios and reasons why it hasn't been official yet, my head spinning...

I just heard it on MLB Network. The Cubs are very close to a deal with the Yankees; Aroldis Chapman for Gleyber Torres. I hope this deal gets done but they're talking about it like its going to happen any day. Fuck it would be great to have Chapman and his 105 mph fastball coming to Cubs. You heard it here first...:) Andrew Miller isn't going anywhere according to the Yankees front office but Chapman will be gone by weeks end.

So....when you posted this, you heard (in your words) "the Cubs are very close to a deal", but you posted that it was done.

I don't understand that logic.

Are the Cubs seriously in extension talks? I don't see how Chapman's agent would allow that, this dude will shatter the FA record for a RP

Is his Agent Scott Boras?

Not happy about going to the best team in baseball (record wise) from a team that probably won't even make the playoffs? So he's not interested in winning a championship?

People are gonna look quite silly when this deal gets done. Most outlets are reporting its a done deal. Not sure why piling on the OP like this makes sense when this story seems to be the general media consensus.

CBS reporting it as done deal: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/c...-trade-in-place-that-could-be-completed-soon/

The article you linked literally says if the cubs can't come to an agreement on the extension the trade very well could fall apart. That's not some trivial matter. And that's assuming that all the reports are right. I don't particularly have reason to doubt them but these same reporters said Fowler to the O's was a done deal. Stuff happens.

If it's Torres for Chapman straight up, I'll be slightly disappointed. If we have to include anything else of significance, it would be a catastrophic mistake.

While our bullpen needs a lot of help, we still can't score runs with RISP. Playoff games come down to key hits and very rarely do we excel with situational hitting. Chapman doesn't help in that department.

I realize we have a chance this year but Torres is an elite prospect. Anything else we'd have to throw in is way, way too much.

If this goes through, it's WS or bust.

As of this morning there are 4 deals that the yankees have in place for Chapman. Cubs, Nationals, Cleveland and Texas are all said to be in the running still.

I really cannot see a problem with Torres, I think it would be pretty cool to have Starlin Castro lose his spot to another cubs farm hand. But all reality, Torres should not be thought of as anything more than Vogie, a prospect with no place to play. No way Torres plays short ahead of Baez if Russell goes down and last I checked the cubs are 4 deep at second base.

Cubs bullpen ERA has more than doubled over the last little while. Grimm and Strop are kind of iffy, so the end looks like Montgomery/Wood, Rondon and Chapman if the game is remotely close.
