1) Run the ball/stop the run.
2) Sack the opposing Qb/protect your QB.
3) Protect the football/TAKEAWAY the football.

I feel MUCH more now than since '05/06, that our team is built to execute the 3 Golden Rules. Pace/Fox/Fangio get it and Loggains better RUN THE BALL on average 30 times a game! If we do this with our young backs behind a healthy OLine, Jay HAS TO protect the football... if our front 7 holds up at least against the run, our pass rush (unproven) can blossom with the youngsters (Floyd, Goldman, Bullard). We'll be hearing a bit more... "fade to black" Bears win.

Compared to Week 1 of this preseason, I feel much much better about this season. On to Houston...

I think we are half way there. I'm not convinced we can execute rule 3, also not convinced we can get the sacks. Time will tell.

RIP. Doug Buffone. Loved him. Never BS you on how the Bears played. OB and Buffone after games were entertaining, especially when the Bears laid an bad egg. Also never took shit from anyone. I remember Buffone was about to beat the shit out of Dan Bernstein while on the radio. I miss Old Doug.

Oh I thought this was gonna be the legit statistical measures.

I recall the 3 supposed actual factors that correlate most with winning is,

Plays of over 20 yards
Turnover rate
Red zone success

On both sides of the ball the with these factors

I thought they were:
1 Don't work for the McCaskeys
2 Don't coach the Bears
and
3 Coach anywhere but Chicago.

So if you're better at running, and passing, and defense, you're more likely to win.

Does anyone have any evidence for this or is it just another whimsical claim?

Drafting QBs every other year is how you win in this league.

those rules still work today. But an elite passing game has taken plenty home too, like GB.

I think we will run and stop he run well this yr.

I'm not sold on our pass-rush nor protection.

But if Cutler can stay cool, throw the ball away, not throw risky until absolutely necessary, I think we're in every game.

Agreed... can Fox/Fangio finally outcoach some fools too? I mean how many years did we suffer thru talented Lovie teams who won IN SPITE of awful coaching? And of course lost when they shouldn't have... let's GO!
