Looks like it gonna be one of those games where whoever bullpen can give up the least wins..

Looking like their going to need to find another lefty to replace Duensing

Keeping an eye on Rollins and Zastryzny in Iowa

It's not a huge concern because Koji is a reverse split guy(.180/.221/.333 vs LH on his career). Montgomery has also been decent so that gives you 2 guys vs LH batters. That being said, would surprise me if they dump duensing sooner or later. Leathersich is the guy I'd keep an eye on. He's got the most impressive k/9 though he's been shelled so far. Plus he's on the 40 man already. Rollins has pitched well but isn't and granted if you cut Dunesing you now have a spot but he was cut before Leathersich to open a spot so presumably they thought slightly more of Leathersich to not expose him.

Another option is just to cut Dunesing and bring back La Stella. Presumably they are still trying to deal Szczur and may have more luck near the deadline. You could roll with 12 pitchers for a few months while you build the market for Szczur and maybe look to get a LH arm near the deadline.

They pushed Zastryzny to the pen this year. Seeing how he was pretty much a cut fast ball lefty like Wood I'm figuring they are seeing how his numbers situate in Iowa and he will end up called up at some point. I see him as a long term arm vs a short term asset so they should sit on him until he is ready.

Dunesing is decent but they need to keep him as a 3rd option vs lefties. Montgomery and Koji should be the primary guys vs left. Edwards, Strop and Grimm as the primary guys vs right.

This was a fun game to watch.

I got a kick out of Baez's AB's today.

Interesting part of that is the MLB avg exit velocity is 87 MPH. Every starter is at that point or over except 2 Cubs hitters. Baez and Bryant are avg 84 MPH. Both are hitting .220 ish.

Zo on the bench is avg 78 MPH. Well below. So I'm thinking there is a direct connection going on here. The guys that are struggling are not making consistent hard contact.

Almora is avg 92 MPH. Jay 89 MPH, Heyward a tick under 92 MPH. Schwarber 92 MPH.

So in general the guys that are having some success are getting hard contact.

Stella is in AAA, Zobrist is day to day with back issues, no extra infielders, Baez struggling big time.

Why isnt Ian Happ up here for a taste?

I keep saying this...
I understand the fascination of Baez defense and I'm a big Baez fan But don't be surprised if he sent down later in season and Happ brought up,especially if Baez continue to struggle and Happ hits.
