While I'm not overly thrilled by this list, I do think we are better both short and long term. Our Secondary has to be better, and we have several building blocks.

I'm sure there are a few more signings on the way too.

I'm looking forward Quentin Demps at Safety and seeing what Prince Amukamara & Marcus Cooper have a CB. It needs work but it's still well improved over what we had last year.

Lamarr Houston will he stay a Bear?

They need Marcus Cooper, Fuller, or some other corner to really step up. We know Amukamara is a decent starter when healthy but nothing more, and often not healthy.

Eddie Jackson or Hall must take the FS spot. Demps, Bush, and Amos fight it as SS.

I really would have liked another edge rusher. I wonder if they actually plan on keeping Houston.

Overall, the offense looks pretty good except for a #1 WR. Defense still feels thin and very shaky on paper.

Our free agency this year was a bust. We bought a bunch of bums to add to a collection of bums. His draft strategy to me he hit it out of the park time will tell if he got the right guys

Thank you for this post. When put all together like it is here, I think there is great room for optimism.

Free Safety is one of the most important positions and Demps will be the winner.

FS: Quintin Demps, Eddie Jackson, HJQ
SS: Adrian Amos, Deon Bush

If Demps is FS were are likely in trouble.

We still have room for i think 7 more players on the roster, we have a good amount of cap left and i think Pace saved money for when the cuts start happening. There's always some vets that get cut so hopefully we can add a couple legit vets to this team. Maybe they'll sign J.Howard who the Chiefs cut last week.

I wouldn't be shocked if we trade K.Fuller and wouldn't be shocked if they were trying to during the draft. I'm not sure if them not picking up the 5th year option would make him more enticing for other teams or not but the Bears obviously don't believe in the kid as much as Pace made it sound like they did or he would of picked up that option.

That DE from Denver they met with is still out there. Vance Walker.

I can live with the draft. I'm thrilled they got a QB and I understand the risk/reward profiles on the rest. Biggest mistake of the offseason was not getting Gilmore. Also not entirely sure I understand the Glennon signing- but I assume it was a hedge against not getting Trubisky. Any way you slice it- Pace has put his professional career on the line this offseason. Everything now is about the 2018 season.

The key to FA is that they aren't committed to big dollars to anyone over several years. This is what rebuilding looks like. You have to fill in the roster with somebody to play but you don't want to hamstring yourself to the point you can't slowly integrate younger players over a few years.

I don't really think there's much trade for a guy who didn't play at all last year. I also don't think that not giving him the 5th year (which is something like $8mil, I think) indicates that they've given up on him entirely. We'll see.

I love the FA additions of Cooper, Wright, Wheaton, and Amukamara. Very little investment to see if these guys have what it takes to build with. Cooper looks the part and is evidenced by the 3 year deal he received. Amukamara is a quality starter when healthy, and is still young. Wright and Wheaton have both flashed in the past and hopefully the change of scenery is good for them. I also think Fuller is going to show something this year, and may well end up our starting nickel.

The key is to sign your main targets. Sure they did a good job not sticking us with bums on long term contracts. But it's a fact we missed big in fa.

How is it a fact we missed big in FA?? What if S.Gilmore and AJ Bouye show they aren't worth what they got paid?? This could easily happen with them especially AJ Bouye. How do we know that the guys we added won't play well for us?? To say what we did in free agency is already a big miss, in May is ridiculous. Lets give these kids a chance before we call them bad signings.

That is not a good team.

But in my opinion it is better and there is legit hope that they are building towards something. The feeling of treading water that had taken over the Cutler era is gone.
