Comes down to whether Fuller wants to be a Bear or not. I doubt if he wants the Bears to match he'd agree to something that would intentionally fuck the Bears salary cap going forward

I am thinking based on what we heard before about him wanting to stay with the Bears that he just wants the long term $ with the Bears, go the Packers to bite, and the structure to the deal won't be terrible

Even if he would want to leave, I think the Bears will still match

Bears will match it. Fuller already said he wanted to stay, but that doesn't even matter. It's how much we want him that matters

I wonder if you could do something like $13m or whatever in year one then $75m base pay in year two which becomes guaranteed on the 3rd day of the next league year.

He'd have to be outright released next year before the guarantee kicks in. It isn't a poison pill in the old sense that one team has a clear advantage in compensation, but it will force the player to hit the open market after one year.

Packers probably setting at least a floor price, if they really don't want Fuller, high enough it will sting the Bears.

Bet they match it unless, as otherwise noted, it is obscene.

They could structure the contract in a way that would fuck the Bears.

The fact they wanted to sign Fuller until the moment after Dion Sims $6 million became guaranteed for this year shows you the Packers think they have a shot.

The structure of the deal will be huge.

It's one thing if Fuller signed a deal to get his long term money. But if the Fuller signed a deal designed specifically to fuck the Bears salary cap then that is a huge middle finger to the team.

I would have trouble seeing them bringing him back then, considering how easily they said goodbye to Alshon when he made it clear he didn't want to be here

If we lose him btw Im fully on board with drafting ward who I think is the best db in this draft. I would use his cap savings on a patchwork pass rush

Free Agency Frenzy on the NFL Network has said that Packers have front loaded Kyle Fuller contract. I'm guessing 16 or 17 million in his first year.

Bears free agency is ended by the Packers today.

Yeah front loading the contract would be the way they get fuller, so maybe we draft Ridley or Sutton and then the bears can burn the packers secondary.
