I'd rather that he ride the bench and Epstein found a defensive catcher. Willson has brought little to the plate and to the field for quite some time. He can't hit anymore, can't frame pitches and can't call a good game.

Though pitch framing a defensive skill, not sure if the stat guys can accurately use it when determining defensive stats..

I will always question how one can determine if a catcher is actually trying to frame a pitch or not...
Just because they get a strike called on a close pitch dont always mean they framed it, plus a good frame don't always get called a strike...

Fair to say they know more than the both of us. Also fair to say that pitch framing is not taken into effect in their catcher defensive scores. Even if it were, Contreras would still be one of the better catchers due to his well-rounded skillset.

I get the offensive struggle, but without looking im sure there aren't many catchers ahead of him offensively..

Puzzled on how you can say he not a good defensive catcher..
He gets pitchers out of alot of innings/jams with his arm..

Cant call a good game ???????
Not sure how you determine that
