Nice win! Feels good to see the offense start to produce again. Hopefully they can keep it going!

So question.... if the cards get eliminated before Sunday.... and hypothetically you're a cards fan.... do you still want them throwing the 22 year old Flaherty? He's at 180 IP between AAA/MLB. He did throw like 170 innings last year so it's not an enormous bump in innings for him but i mean if you're done for the year are you really wanting to risk a guy who's gonna be a big part of your future?

Quote of the day (year?) on Cards forum:

“The Cards play worse defense than the White Sox in the 1919 World Series, and the Sox were trying to throw the series.”

No. But their fans will be ticked at “aiding and abetting the enemy”, so they will start him.

Cubs facing Cards ACE this afternoon. Meanwhile the Tigers are tanking and throwing out an 0-5 5.22 ERA bum against the Brewers.

I wouldn't call Mikolas an ace. He's a soft throwing ground baller. He's like a poor mans Hendricks because even Hendricks K's people more than he does.

Love interleague play this late in the year.

Being the best pitcher on a roster doesn't make you an "ace" in my opinion.

You mean...who would be your call to win one game? I might go Flaherty on that one.

Martinez is a head case and is in the pen.

I meant Mikolas by default. But I know what you mean. And I also would not count on Mikolas to be a sure thing to keep pitching this way next year.

I mean maybe i'm just being pedantic here but the reason I don't like using "ace" in that manner is an ace is suppose to trump all. But not every team in the league even has an ace in my definition. For example, if you were to take the two pitchers in this game, I think you can make the case if you have to win one game you'd rather Hamels and he's not the cubs #1 pitcher.

And I agree I'd rather have Flaherty on the mound than Mikolas.

He has better numbers than any Cubs pitcher.

They’re going to set a record for players reaching base without a hit.

Two runs for Cards. Reached on CI and HBP.
