He turned into a pro bowl QB before leaving San Diego. Payton and him were a match but it’s because Brees is ultra motivated individual. The guy had a terrible injury and isn’t even 6 foot tall. No, he isn’t the most physically gifted QB but he is one of the smartest to play the game and probably the best pump faker to ever suit up. The dude stands on his tippy toes to throw balls and just hits dimes.

Brees is somehow one of the most underrated players. I dunno if it's because of not winning an MVP award or what, but he's always sort of in the shadows of Manning, Brady, and Rodgers as the best QB of the generation. He's obviously well regarded, but at the same time, he always seems to be omitted or less talked about in these types of conversations.
