This is the part that I can't understand. Last year we had no wide receivers and worse quarterbacking. Everyone stacked the box knowing we were running. So how was our running game so much better last year?

The Fox effect?

I think Nagy is telegraphing where the ball will go, Cohen is on the sideline, run up the middle, Howard on the sideline outside run/HB pass. He does change it up occasionally, but for an offensive genius Nagy is pretty predictable.

More passes to Howard would go a long way to solving the problem.

So, HHM is right.

I made this thread thinking we would all agree about this and then some guttersnipe busts in here trying to put on a clinic about comedic writing. Its stuff like this that made me quit ccs three years ago.

Formations. Nagy has formations that he runs multiple different types of plays out of. It is hard to tell what the O is lined up for if you can run 6-9 different types of plays out of it. However the types of runs they can run with that set & those players are limited in Nagy's offense. You of course also have to have the right call against the defense.

Basically Nagy's scheme is bad for running variety. And what he does have is limited & not well executed by blockers & RBs.

In Popeyes rant about Cohen's sweep stretch I thought it was obvious that in that stretch Cohen needs to hit tighter windows. Maybe explode their a gap with a hard cut & burst because the windows are very very small. OL has to learn to create those windows too. If Cohen hestitates he misses a window & gets escorted to the sideline. If he hits the wrong window or does it slow enough he gets gobbled up by pursuit. Sometimes a closing LB sees the backside of a window better than the RB and hits it first given the RB a surprise visit. Ulracher & Briggs did that well.

Nagy and the gang need to probably spend some time taking multiple good running sets & seeing what he can add to it for pass options. Reverse engineer em. And then try some of those out. So if you have a run set and get a stacked box you also have some good pass options.

This is just the progression of Nagys playbook. His first year as a HC his playbook is progressing just like his players. He will start to find plays that work & have to completely create new ones until he finds what works.

I always thought Howards best runs were off tackle. Running between center & guard general only works when you trick the LBs to the outside or catch them in an edge blitz.
Or when a single middle defender gets blocked. Those things generally don't happen when Howard is in the game & expect ol up the gut. Having Tackles that can allow the Ends outside & then shove them off collapsing back into the running would be handy too.

BTW, I did mention that someone should teach Cohen to go toward the endzone instead of running to the sideline. I'm just saying, he missed two holes Sunday where he could have cut it up and stutter stepped and kept going to the sideline. Just saying. Maybe run a little reverse off of it, something other than letting Cohen clean the grass tips heading to the sideline five yards back.

And again, it was a sarcastic post to show the useless play of running cohen to the sideline when you have a Howard who goes toward the endzone. 2nd and eight is seven yards better than 2nd and fifteen. Math.

The run blocking had been horrendous.

Dion Sims sucks and Kush is not as good as Daniels. Lets start by getting the best personnel on the field.

I agree, Burton (the FB), and Daniels both could be improvements in the running game and pass protection. Burton is actually a decent pass catcher, so he is already an improvement over Sims.

lol, and I got scolded for ribbing this guy for posting over and over about football 30 years ago.

I honestly wish he would go back to that instead of these pro-Mitch troll threads that he's been spamming the board with.

He has really taken the whole Mole-Eye debate in an exciting new direction.

If you speak ill of Mitch you are what is called a "hater".
Too early to judge him.
He seems dear and sweet.
Rich Buczkowski 688 can Help Trubisky earn $2000 a week and have sex.
Only "meatballs" use stats.
He just really loves Mitchell, more than anybody really, more than Mitchell's mom, by a lot, it's not even close.
You can not, apparently, expect 6 TD's every game, you "meatballs".

Also if you get a chance check out his LinkedIn, the guy is a riot.
