The Chicago Bears surprisingly traded back into the second round Friday night and selected wide receiver Anthony Miller out of Memphis with the 51st overall pick.
Miller was a big time producing wide receiver at Memphis as he posted back to back seasons of 1,400 receiving yards. He was projected as round two or three talent and is seen as one of the more explosive wide receivers in this year’s draft.

The receiver fits right into head coach Matt Nagy’s offense as he is seen as a proven route runner and has tremendous speed after the catch. He will project as a slot receiver and work inside along with new Bear Taylor Gabriel. He also provides the team a deep threat as he had catches of 40 yards or longer in half of the games he played in last season.
He also proved his strong hands and ability to get open as he had four games of 10-plus receptions last season.
General manager Ryan Pace did sacrifice a lot to trade up to acquire Miller as he traded the Bears 4th round selection in this year’s draft and the team’s 2019 second round pick to the New England Patriots for pick. The team will not draft again, barring another trade tonight, until the fourth round tomorrow with the 115th pick.
