As part of our expanded Fire coverage, notes on the team that may not constitute an entire article will be provided in our “Fire Notes” posts, of which this is the first installment.

  • The Chicago Fire Soccer Club is hosting the Chicago Fire Rec Beachfront Soccer League for which limited spots remain.  The games will half two twenty-five minutes halves, and the league will begin play on Friday, May 17.  Featuring Men’s, Coed, and Women’s tournaments, the league fees are $99 per individual or $999 per team, and will be officiated by USSF and FIFA-certified referees.  The league will last at least eight weeks before any team is eliminated and finishes its respective season.
  • The Fire Reserves will play the Houston Dynamo Reserves on Tuesday at the Houston Amateur Sports Park.  Game time is 10:00 AM Central Time.
  • Saturday’s game at the Philadelphia Union will be broadcast on My50 with a 6:30 PM CDT start time.  The game will also be broadcast over the radio en espanol on 107.9 La Ley.
  • The Fire are set to open U.S. Open Cup Play on Tuesday, May 28.  The Fire have typically been successful in the nationwide tournament, having won the title in their first season in 1998, as well as in 2000, 2003, and 2006.  The team has also been runners up as recently as 2010, and also in 2004.  Last season, however, the club faced an early exit, falling to the Michigan Bucks of the USL Premier Development League in added extra time of the match played indoors in Michigan.  The Fire’s first round (third round for the entire tournament) will be announced shortly.
