Home to the Bears, the Bulls and the Blackhawks, sport is running through the veins of Chicago –  which makes it a great place for sports fanatics to visit.

And as well as gridiron, basketball and ice hockey, the Chicago Sports and Social Club runs events year round where young professionals meet and mingle to play soccer, baseball and a whole range of invigorating activities.

These six super travel tips will give you a sporting chance of catching the best of the action in the Windy City.

Book early

Make sure you book your travel early before the prices start to rise. If you’re flying to Chicago, check out the Skyscanner website – it compares flights from different carriers to find the perfect deal.

With your travel transport booked early, you’ll not only save yourself a few dollars, but you’ll also have plenty of time to plan fun activities that will make your time in Chicago memorable.

Be transport ready

If you’re planning on attending sports games, the L train and bus services will get you there with ease – just ensure that you take some time to get your head around the Chicago transit system before you arrive.  The CTA (Chicago transport Authority) website is the best place to grab Chicago transport info.

Stay central

You should choose accommodation that gives you easy access to Chicago’s sports hotspots. So if your plans include a watching the Cubs or White Sox in action, booking somewhere near to Wrigley Field or Guaranteed Rate Field is a good idea.

Explore

Chicago is more than just a great sporting city – it’s one of the most exciting places in the US.

One of the best places to visit is the beautiful Millennium Park, home to the Pritzker Pavilion outdoor concert space and some seriously awesome art sculptures. This Touropia article on the top tourist attractions in Chicago will help get you inspired.

City pass

If you’re planning on visiting a lot of the city’s attractions during your stay, consider getting a Chicago CityPASS ticket. A CityPASS lasts for nine days and offers brilliant benefits like discounted and fast-track entry to top tourist spots in Chicago like Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute of Chicago and Field Museum.

Drive to the airport

Driving to the airport is a great way to get your sports trip off to a good start. Away from the hordes of people on public transport, you’ll be nice and relaxed. You can book airport parking on Looking4.com for San Francisco, Seattle and many more US cities in striking distance of Chicago, then turn up Sports Radio America and head to the airport for an awesome getaway.

With these six super tips to hand, your Chicago vacay will be the stuff of sporting legend.
