After their dominating 9-2 win against the Texas Rangers on monday the Cubs were looking to take some momentum into tuesday nights clash with their hated rivals the  St. Louis Cardinals. Travis Wood took the Mound for the Cubbies and Lance Lynn opposed him for the Redbirds.

The scoring didn’t get started until the top of second when Allen Craig drilled a solo of home run to the bleachers in left on a 2-2 pitch. Wood settled down though and pitched 6.2 innings of one run ball. Lynn also pitched well only allowing two runs ,but those two runs would be the deciding runs in the game.

In the bottom of the fourth after Castro and Rizzo struck out back to back, and Soriano came to the plate. Soriano blooped a single into right field to put himself on first with two outs. That  brought up Nate Schierholtz. The count was 3-1 and Schierholtz was looking for a pitch he could drive. He got that pitch and blasted it into deep left center field to give the Cubs a 2-1. That was all the Cubs would need.

The bullpen would hang on to a one run lead, something they haven’t done so well thus far. Marmol pitched 1.1 innings scoreless, and Kevin Gregg pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his 5th save of the year. The win moves the Cubs to (13-20 )on the year, and puts Travis Wood with a record of (3-2) as he picks of the W. The final game of this two game set will feature Jake Westbrook (2-1, 1.07) for the Cards, and Carlos Villenueva (1-2, 2.85) for the Cubs. First pitch is set for 1:20 central time.

Should the Cubs go to a 6-Man Rotation?
