It’s been about two weeks since Addison Russell played a game for the Cubs, and there’s no end in sight for that trend.
According to Comcast Sportsnet’s Patrick Mooney, there’s still no timeline for Russell’s return to the big-league club.
He was placed on the 10-day disabled list with plantar fasciitis on Aug. 4, retroactive to Aug. 2.

Earlier this week, Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said Russell’s return is not imminent and that’s he’s recovering slowly. It was also reported on Tuesday that Russell started doing agility work before the Cubs’ game versus the Reds.
Russell was hitting reasonably well before going on the DL, with four hits in his last three games before being sidelined. On the season, he has a slash line of .241/.305/.417 with 10 home runs.
Javy Baez has been filling in for Russell this month and is producing well. He’s slashing .318/.362/.636 since Aug. 3 with a 147 wRC+.
