Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is getting into the business of acting, at least for one episode.
The 24-year-old is set to be the Cubs shortstop on Opening Day for the second-straight year, as he’s part of a young core that has already delivered the franchise a World Series Title. But on Opening Day he will also be featured on a popular CBS show.
Russell is set to make an appearance on CBS’ primetime show “Superior Donuts” on April 9th, the same day as the Cubs home opener according to Entertainment Weekly.
The show is based on a donut shop in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood owned by Arthur (Judd Hirsch) who is a long time Cubs fan. Noticeable Cubs items like a World Series pennant and bobblehead have been spotted in the coffee shop.
Arthur is hoping to keep his streak alive of attending consecutive games on Cubs home openers but runs into a problem when he loses his connect for tickets for the first time. Russell makes an appearance on the show and can possibly help Arthur, by solving his very important problem.
But can he get him tickets? Stay tuned.
The show is in its second season and airs Monday nights in the 8 p.m. CST time slot. It also stars Jermaine Fowler, Diane Guerrero, David Koechner, Katey Sagal and Max Jobrani.
