Baseball players have really stepped up their cleat game over the years as we’ve seen several new awesome versions of cleats hit the diamond both nationally and here in Chicago.

With the Cubs, we are fortunate to have an adidas athlete in Kris Bryant on the diamond for 162 games as he has sported some pretty awesome cleats. Now the newest collaboration from adidas baseball and Topps trading cards has us excited to see these hit the diamond soon.

adidas and Topps announced a new collab featuring two new cleats and a trainer shoe in this awesome three-pack that has some incredible detailing on them.

The pack consists of the adizero Afterburner cleats, Icon cleats and Icon trainer in a crazy metallic colorway that is supposed to represent Topps trading cards and the history of the iconic brand. To develop the new pack, designers opened hundreds of packs of cards, studying the details to create a nostalgic feel to it.

This special pack will be available on adidas.com with a price tag of $120 for the adizero Afterburner cleats, $140 for the Icon cleats and $110 for the Icon trainer.

Check out the information from a press release via adidas:

2018 Special Edition adidas Baseball x Topps adizero Afterburner Cleats

Built for speed and designed to make a statement, the Topps adizero Afterburner Cleats feature a one-piece hologram graphic that changes colors with movement. The unique upper is emblazoned with statistics and the iconic 3-Stripes were inspired by rare Topps baseball cards with game-worn jersey materials. A heel pull tab features a graphic of blurred fans in the ballpark and a Topps certified autograph space for players to sign their cleats, just like they would sign their rookie cards. Additional detailing includes a Topps logo set within a home plate on the tongue and co-branded adidas x Topps sockliners.

The adizero Afterburner, the lightest cleat in the game, takes the baseball cleat silhouette to the next level by incorporating a sneaker profile and redefining fit, feel and lightweight construction. With a refined shape that is sculpted to be aerodynamic and wrap around the foot in order to provide a sock-like feel, the new TECHFIT breathable, compression bootie allows for flexibility and movement through the ankle, while an articulated heel helps deliver a lockdown sensation that makes the cleat feel like an extension of the foot for multidirectional movement and control.

2018 Special Edition adidas Baseball x Topps Icon Cleats

The 2018 Topps Icon cleats pay homage to the baseball cards and America’s pastime with a molded holographic heel clip and reinforced toe cap that have been emblazoned with statistics. The tongue tab features a graphic of blurred fans in the ballpark and a Topps certified autograph space for players to sign their cleats, just they would sign their rookie cards.

Additional detailing includes the Topps logo on the heel and co-branded adidas x Topps sockliners. Featuring a sneaker inspired upper with a TECHFIT bootie, the entire baseball card inspired Icon design sits atop a full-length Energy Boost midsole to provide game-changing comfort, while a holographic plate with PROTRAX cleat configuration provides dynamic acceleration and traction.

2018 Special Edition adidas Baseball x Topps Icon Trainer

The adidas Baseball Icon Trainer is designed to showcase style and built to clock in hours at the batting cage and practice field. The Topps trainer pays homage to the baseball cards with holographic heel counter and reinforced toe cap that have been emblazoned with statistics.

The tongue top features a graphic of blurred fans in the ballpark with a Topps certified autograph space for rookies to sign their cleats, just they would sign their rookie cards. Additional detailing includes the Topps logo on the heel and co-branded adidas x Topps sockliners.
