The Chicago Bears opened their first organized team activity session of 2016, holding voluntary workouts for the players at Halas Hall on Tuesday.
While the team got together on the field for the first time in 2016, one player was missing. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery did not show up on Tuesday but that may have been expected.
The Bears used the franchise tag on Jeffery and have been trying to get a long-term deal done with the receiver. While many have speculated some tension between the two sides, Jeffery’s agent spoke Tuesday offering some positive thoughts.
“Alshon is getting in great shape, and he will certainly be with his team for mandatory activities,”Tory Dandy told CBS Bears reporter Chris Emma on Tuesday. “There is no contract dispute. Alshon is under contract. He signed the tag, so no dispute.”
Dandy’s words are somewhat positive for the situation as Jeffery has spent his offseason working out in Florida. Many believe that Jeffery working out solo is a bad thing for the organization, however he’s done this in the past.
One former NFL receiver was with Jeffery just days ago and offered this positive message via his Twitter account:

The Bears OTAs will last through Thursday. Mandatory mini-camp begins June 14 and will last through the 16th.
