After spoiling the Los Angeles Kings home opener a little more than 24 hours ago, the Chicago Blackhawks gained revenge on the Phoenix Coyotes by defeating them 6-4 in the second game of the 2013 season.

It was Phoenix that got on the board early first from an unassisted goal by David Moss.

Mid-way through the opening period, the Blackhawks capitalized 11 seconds into their first power-play of the game when Patrick Kane fed a beautiful pass to Dave Bolland who tapped it home to tie the game at 1.

In the second period, Antoine Vermette put the Coyotes back in front when he scored his first goal of the season off a juicy rebound.

Chicago answered back when Patrick Sharp sniped a bullet past Mike Smith to even the score at 2.

And then the Blackhawks poured it on them.

Marian Hossa and Viktor Stalberg each added a goal with minutes winding down in the second period scoring their goals 50 seconds apart from each other.

Hossa picked off right where he left off roofing a backhander that snuck by Mike Smith 14 seconds into the third period to give Chicago a commanding 5-2 lead. So it seemed.

Shortly after, Martin Hanzel potted his first goal of the year followed by a Shane Doan goal in the blink of an eye to bring the game within reaching distance.

But the Blackhawks immediately responded, once again, when Dave Bolland found the back of the net for the second time on the night capping Chicago’s 6-4 victory.

Bolland had a three-point night with two goals and one assist, while four other Blackhawks finished with a multi-point game (Hossa, Kane, Rozsival, Sharp).

Hossa has been red hot in the first two games of the season registering four goals and one assist.

Michal Rozsival made his Blackhawk debut tonight against his former team logging over 16 minutes of ice time and assisting on two of the goals on top of a +2 rating.

Ray Emery stopped 25 of 29 shots (.862 save %) ultimately earning his first win of the season.

Power Play: 1-for-5
Penalty Kill: 3-for-3

WHAT’S NEXT?
The Blackhawks will travel to Chicago for their home opener as they welcome the St. Louis Blues in town; puck drop at 7:30pm CT!
