After a brief two-game losing streak, the Blackhawks revert back to their winning ways by knocking off Columbus 2-1 in a shootout.

Andrew Shaw and Matt Calvert squared off in an entertaining scrap late in the first period that added some life to the game as the period was nearing its end.

The Blackhawks jumped on the scoreboard first late in the second period when Johnny Oduya potted his first goal of the season that whipped by Sergei Bobrovsky’s glove side to give Chicago a 1-0 lead.

Patrick Kane’s assist on the goal was his 400th career NHL point making him the 5th fastest Blackhawk to accomplish that feat.

Columbus responded just 52 seconds later on the power play when Jack Johnson slapped home a shot that blew by Corey Crawford to tie the game at one.

The Blackhawks outshot the Blue Jackets 13-3 in the third period, but failed to capitalize on their opportunities which sent the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, both teams combined for a total of 15 shots (Chicago 7, Columbus 6), but again, both goalies remained sharp and none of them found the back of the net which forced the game to be decided in a shootout.

Artem Anisimov and Jonathan Toews exchanged shootout goals in the first round, but Kane would register the game-winner in the second round to put away Columbus.

Chicago logged 15 blocked shots led by Dave Bolland, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Duncan Keith with three each.

Crawford improves his record to 12-2-2 on the year after stopping 29 of 30 (.967 save %) on the night, including 2-for-3 in a shootout.

Power Play: 0-for-1
Penalty Kill: 1-for-2

WHAT’S NEXT?
