Just days after the Chicago White Sox shipped starter Jose Quintana across town to the Cubs, they might be close to making another deal.
The Boston Red Sox recently showed interest in third baseman Todd Frazier and after designating Pablo Sandoval for assignment, it seems as if they are ready to make a move.
According to the USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox are moving in on a deal to acquire Frazier:

With Boston in first place in the AL Central, they’d love to add some more offense to their already impressive lineup. They’ve struggled with consistency at the third base position hitting a combined .233/.287/.335 on the year.
Frazier has struggled this season hitting only .210 but he does have 16 home runs for the White Sox this season. He might be the Red Sox best option as Brock Holt is still dealing with Vertigo issues.
Top prospect Rafael Devers could be called up later in the season but Boston certainly doesn’t want to rush him to the big leagues.
As for the return on Frazier? Well, White Sox fans probably shouldn’t expect much unless they can include David Robertson in a deal.

Rick Hahn has already built an impressive farm system after trading Chris Sale, Adam Eaton and Quintana over the last year. Getting something in return for Frazier is nice, but don’t expect a top prospect in any deal.
