Brandon Marshall Teams Up with OfficeMax

This past Thursday was a special day for Chicago Public Schools. Bears superstar wide receiver Brandon Marshall and OfficeMax teamed up to honor the teachers that serve Chicago Public Schools.

At a special presentation Thursday at Bradwell Elementary School in Chicago, Marshall and OfficeMax surprised 100 local teachers with a $100,000 donation for school supplies that are essential in the every day classroom needs.

This comes as a positive note in the community after CPS suffered a strike earlier in the school year.  The strike was resolved within a week and teachers returned to their classroom to help brighten the future of thousands of Chicago Public School students.

At this time in the school year, supplies run low and many teachers find themselves using money out of their own pockets to provide for the needs of students in the classrooms. With this donation, those teachers won’t have to do so and will have enough supplies to last them through the rest of the school year.

Marshall was excited at the opportunity to help out the teachers in  the Chicago community. “When I learned that teachers spend approximately $1,000 out of their own pocket on classroom supplies for their students, I immediately jumped at the chance to help OfficeMax with their A Day Made Better initiative here in Chicago,” said Marshall.

“This is my chance to give back to the city in a big way and help OfficeMax continue to do the great work they’re doing to support teachers,” added Marshall who just completed his first season as a Chicago Bear.

The event was part of OfficeMax’s larger annual program entitled A Day Made Better. The program dedicates itself to the Chicago land community and helping with the education of children.

In the programs sixth year, it has already contributed more than $20 million in supplies and grants for more than 30,000 teachers.  The program aims to do its part in ending the need for teacher-funded classrooms.

Check below for pictures of the event.
