Jay Cutler may have played his last down with the Chicago Bears.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo are reporting that Cutler is believed to have torn the labrum in his right shoulder. Though he is currently seeking a second opinion on the matter, he is expected to miss the rest of the season.

#Bears QB Jay Cutler believed to have a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, per @MikeGarafolo & me. He's hoping 2nd opinions say different

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 22, 2016

Cutler sustained the injury at some point in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants, and he was almost certainly injured during the Bears’ last possession, on which he completed 2-4 passes for 58 yards and threw the game-sealing interception.

While not all labral tears—which involve a tearing of the cartilage keeping the ball-and-socket joint of the shoulder in place—require surgery, the injury will require time to heal, particularly for a quarterback. Additionally, should Cutler need surgery, he could be out of action for around three months.

If this truly is the end of the line for Cutler as the Bears’ signal-caller, what more fitting way is there for him to go out than to put the Bears in position to win only turn the ball over on his last play while playing through a barrage of hits and searing pain?

That just about sums up this last eight years.
