Bulls Beat Up Bucks Behind Kurt Thomas

The Chicago Bulls somewhat avenged the Bears’ NFC Championship loss to the Green Bay Packers by socking it to, their fellow Wisconsin team, the Milwaukee Bucks 92-83 on Monday night.

Former Bulls’ head coach Scott Skiles had his Bucks come out early and execute their half court offense.  Then the Bulls’ defense and Kurt Thomas, who was a starter for Milwaukee a season ago, showed up to play.

Thomas shot 10-of-16 from the field and ended the game with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, a steal and two blocked shots.  He was in such a groove shooting the ball that even he was disappointed that he did not make at least three more of those open looks.  The Milwaukee Bucks elected to help on Boozer instead of defending the mid-range game for the 38 year-old big man.  But that decision bit the Bucks back in a big way—a “big sexy” way, if you will…

The shooting struggles for the Bulls in this game.  The team only shot 39% from the field in Monday’s game.  Derrick Rose went 5-of-16 from the field.

Talking to the media, post-game, Rose indirectly cited his back being hurt as a possible reason for some of those shots not falling.  The All Star point guard is only shooting 38% from the floor over his last five games.

Nevertheless, the Chicago Bulls continue their dominance over their Central Division counterparts.  Their win over Milwaukee boasted them to 10-0 in games versus division rivals, as they now hold a full 12 game lead over the Bucks and Indiana Pacers.

It should be smooth sailing for the Bulls in their quests to clinch the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference from here on out.

Their next game will be on Friday in Chicago against Dwight Howard and the resurgent Orlando Magic as the Bulls look to bounce back from their loss back on December 1st at the United Center.
