The Chicago Bulls start off a first in a, 3 game in 3 day, tripleback against the Detroit Pistons. The last time these two teams met, Richard Hamilton made his return to Detroit and Derrick Rose fell hard on his left elbow in a Bulls victory. Rose didn’t wear the elbow brace today, for the first time since that hard fall in Auburn Hills.

After collapsing on nearly all levels in their last game against Atlanta, the Bulls looked to start off strong tonight. Dominating the start until the Pistons made a big push to tie up the game at the end of the first at 21 all. As they often do, the Bench Mob came on, and were able to throw off Detroit’s strongest showing of the game and ultimately finish off the Pistons for the night. Bulls win 92-68.

Derrick Rose was more like his usual self. He had a few flashy moves inside and was able to get some minutes on the bench, with backup John Lucas III doing a great job of keeping an injured CJ Watson’s spot warm. Lucas played for 15 minutes and did everything but facilitate the offense. Tonight’s game was a slightly lower distribution game than usual across the board, with Derrick leading the assist totals by contributing 8 dimes, and Ronnie Brewer contributing 4 in an all around effort in his role, filling in for Rip Hamilton.

Carlos Boozer led all scores with 23 points and 8 rebounds in only 26 minutes of play.  The Pistons are n under performing, yet, very defensive frontcourt with some up and coming bigs in Greg Monroe, second year energy guy, Jonas Jerebko, and the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Ben Wallace, mentoring and coming off the bench.

In the final minute of play, bench cigar, Brian Scalabrine ran on transition to make a crowd-chanting go-ahead basket. After the final buzzer, Bull’s coach, Tom Thibodeau pulled Scalabrine off to the side and told him not to take those shots. Scalabrine, shocked as if he was in big trouble with his coach, then saw the quick joke played on him and had a good laugh.

Tonight’s victory was the Bulls 19th consecutive against the Pistons in the regular season, the longest in the rivalry’s history. It also marked the lowest score(68) for the Pistons against the Bulls.

The Bulls defeat the Detroit Pistons 92-68 to move to 8-2 for the year.

Next Game: Tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game starts at 7:00PM
