The Chicago Bulls have announced the official signings of veteran point guard Kirk Hinrich and rookie forward Cameron Bairstow out of New Mexico according to Chicago Tribune Bulls reporter KC Johnson’s twitter.
The 33 year old veteran Hinrich averaged 9ppg and about 4apg last season and was put back in to the starting role for yet another season as former-MVP guard Derrick Rose went out with yet another knee injury (torn meniscus – right knee). Hinrich is back at the backup point guard role next season as the Bulls are looking at a return of a healthy Derrick Rose. The veteran will be looking at a reduction in minutes but his efforts will still show, as Kirk is one of the most respected defenders in the league at the perimeter.
Hinrich agreed to a two-year extension with the team worth almost $3m next year.
When talking on Kirk, Bulls GM Gar Forman stated that Hinrich represents the professional culture the team wants to present here in Chicago.
The Bulls officially signed 6’9 forward Cameron Bairstow, the 250 pounder out of New Mexico was drafted in the second round pick 49 by the Bulls. He averaged 10.2 points in five games in the NBA 2014 Summer league. In college, he averaged 20.4 points and seven rebounds with the Lobos (New Mexico).
