WWE superstar Seth Rollins has made his affinity for the Chicago Bears no secret. He also has no problem continuing to conduct Chicago’s offseason hype train.
At the center of the Bears buzz is quarterback Caleb Williams. While head coach Ben Johnson’s arrival changes the franchise completely, his offensive gameplan won’t work unless the quarterback takes a major step forward. Put simply, the Bears will go as far as Williams does.
But Rollins has now joined the growing mass of fans and analysts expecting a Williams breakout season. In fact, Rollins went a bit further than that, calling the quarterback a true MVP candidate, via the NFL Network.
“Caleb Williams with Ben Johnson at the helm, breakout season coming,” Rollins said. “This ain’t no Shane Waldron situation, this ain’t no [Matt] Eberflus situation, this is the wizard, Ben Johnson with one of the most skilled quarterbacks in draft history last year.”
“He had a great rookie year, but let’s take it away, let’s move it away, we’re moving in a full different direction,” he continued. “Great draft, we’ve got a great offensive line, we’ve got a great scheme, defense is going to be right where it’s at. I feel good about Caleb Williams. We need to be talking positive about this man.”
“I’ve seen a lot of negatively in the news lately about how he didn’t want to come to Chicago, his dad this, his dad that. Let’s talk about positivity,” Rollins concluded. “And I’m telling you, MVP candidate this season.”

Reasons for Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams optimism

Williams didn’t live up his No. 1 overall pick expectations. However, he still set Bears rookie records for passing yards (3,541) and touchdowns (20). Chicago won’t let one rough season completely change their opinion on Williams. He is still the franchise’s quarterback of the present and future.
They spent all offseason building their offense around him, starting with Johnson. The now head coach helped the Detroit Lions become an offensive juggernaut during his time as offensive coordinator. He is the exact type of candidate to help the quarterback find his ceiling as Johnson’s offensive acumen played a large role in him landing the job.
Once they found their head coach, the Bears built out their offensive line. They traded for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson before signing center Drew Dalman. After allowing a league-high 68 sacks in 2024, Chicago was aggressive in attacking the position. Overall, Williams should be upright in the pocket more often in 2025.
When he looks down field to pass, the quarterback will have a litany of options to throw to. The wide receiver trio of DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden has the chance to be one of the best in the league. Furthermore, not many other teams boast a tight end tandem as lethal as Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland. Williams should have no problems generating offense with that level of talent to work with.
With all of the additions and hype, there are plenty of expectations on Williams’ shoulders. Should he falter, the quarterback will face the fury of fans and analysts. But if Williams shines in Johnson’s new look offense, the Bears will look much different in 2025 for all the right reasons. Furthermore, Rollins’ MVP prophecy could come to fruition.
