As the Chicago Bears push through minicamp and gear up for Training Camp in July, the team is trying out two former second-round picks. Both Daniel Thomas and Sherrod Martin are getting a look for the Bears who could add them to the roster if they see something in minicamp.
Thomas, a 6-foot-1 running back, spent four seasons with the Miami Dolphins recording 1,480 rushing yards on 409 carries and 10 touchdowns. He had a career-year his rookie season finishing with 581 yards. With Thomas, the Bears could add another body in the competition for a backup spot to Matt Forte.
Martin was a second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2009 and started 36 games with the team between 09-11. The defensive back also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, starting in two games where he had an interception and a forced fumble.
The 31-year-old did not play in the NFL last season.
