August 14th, 2010: Chicago Bears at San Diego Chargers

In 2010’s preparation for another gridiron-filled year, the Chicago Bears have become one of the teams to look out for. Following a first few weeks of training camp, Saturday was a sure letdown for Bears Nation.

However, do not fear or worry yourself into a frenzy. It’s only the first game and Chicago’s offense is one of the most complex schemes in all of football. Even the opposite side of the ball has a different coach than usual.

Jay Cutler, a savior to some while a punk to others, moved the ball with efficiency; completing two passes on two attempts for 47 yards.

The running backs were abysmal, combining for 25 yards on 17 attempts. The offensive line seems to need even more polishing as a whole, if salvageable.

One bright spot about the offense was fan favorite Devin Aromashodu, reeling in four catches for 78 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, Major Wright was the standout with six tackles and one assist. Julius Peppers looked like a non-factor, but quickly could bounce, as expected. Lance Briggs was also ran through by rookie Ryan Mathews, and needs to fuel the longtime linebacker.

Overall, the first teamers did decent at best.

2010 Chicago Bears Training Camp Update

In training camp, the offense has looked stellar. Besides the offensive line woes, Chicago intends to show off it’s high octane offense.

Matt Forte, a rookie sensation in 2008, seems to be in top shape within Bears’ activities. Running full speed and having an unstoppable mindset is important for the third-year Forte, as 2010 may be a make-or-break year for the Tulane product.

Also, injuries continue to mount on the Bears, with backup Caleb Hanie in a sling and Major Wright constantly being held down by nagging sores.

Wright, rookie safety out of Florida, is tough and continues to made strides mentally. Us Chicago Bears fans can only hope and pray that another Mike Brown injury bug is biting the young Wright.

Brian Urlacher and his sidekicks are a position to look for in 2010, as well the cornerback spot.

Zackary Bowman and backup Corey Graham are making plays all over the field, with a veteran presence in Charles Tillman and Chris “Hitman” Harris backing the youth up with his abilities.

2010 Chicago Bears training camp is smooth, nonetheless, but the coaching staff needs to fire on all cylinders in order for improvements to become imminent.
