Chicago Blackhawks fans have a good memory of former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton and now they are going to be more familiar with the 33-year-old goalie. The Blackhawks announced the signing of Leighton to a one year contract on Monday giving the team more depth at the position in Rockford and potentially Chicago if needed.
Leighton was in net when Patrick Kane scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 6 in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals to clinch the series for the Blackhawks.
The goalie spent last season in the KHL and was last in the NHL with the Flyers in 2012-2013. With Donbass Donetsk last season he had a .934 save percentage, 1.74 goals-against average and finished 20-15.
