The Chicago Bulls won’t be going to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2008.

After staying alive with a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, the Bulls’ fate was determined in Indianapolis as the Pacers rolled the Brooklyn Nets to clinch a spot. The loss put the Bulls out of the playoffs and left fans with a disappointing season.

The season has been a frustrating one to say the least for the Bulls, who hired coach Fred Hoiberg just weeks after the 2015 season ended. After parting ways with Tom Thibodeau, the team turned to Hoiberg to finally bring them to the promised land.

Instead, the season will end Wednesday night at the United Center against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Missing the playoffs means the Bulls will likely have the 12th, 13th or 14th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. They have less than a 2.8% chance of earning a top three pick in the lottery, and about a .5% chance of winning the number one overall pick.

Back in 2008, the last time they missed the playoffs, the Bulls had a 1.8% chance of getting the number one pick and won the lottery. They selected point guard Derrick Rose who won the NBA’s MVP award in 2011 and led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals.

With this disappointing season, the Bulls will have a lot of work to do in the offseason. It’s likely this roster will look a lot different on opening night in October as it’s time for the Front Office to fix this.

If they can’t, expect most of the same next year.
