Chicago Cubs Make Coaches and Personnel Moves

The Chicago Cubs continue to make moves to the team in the coaching and the front office personnel departments. The Cubs announced a few more moves today:

*The Cubs have re-sign assistant general manager Randy Bush to a 3-year extension. The Cubs will continue with two assistant general managers for years to come. Bush will continue doing work aside Shiraz Rehman and looking up to Jed Hoyer. As you recall the Cubs promoted Rehman to assistant general manager mid-season.

*Cubs manager Dale Sveum rounded out his coaching staff today: The Cubs took the interim tag off James Rowson and game him the full-time gig. Sveum also named David Bell his new 3rd base coach.

Rowson finish the season as the Cubs hitting coach, replacing Rudy Jaramillo whom was let go mid-season. People may say the Cubs wanted to save money, but I don’t think that was exactly the case. He couldn’t really be judged by the lack of the players given to work with. But going forward, time will tell if he’s the answer or not.

Bell played in the MLB as a 2nd baseman and 3rd baseman. He played in the MLB for 11 seasons and after his playing career, Bell has been managing the minors in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Bell is replacing Pat Listach of whom was fired after the Cubs season concluded.

*Cubs head athletic trainer Mark O’Neal announced that he’s stepping down; however, he will stay in the Cubs organization with another title. Nothing else was reported and we don’t know what he will do or who will replace him.

*The Cubs also announce that they have brought in Shane Farrell to their amateur scouting department. He’s the son of new Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell.

*Going into the off-season, the Cubs only have one free agent and that’s reliever Shawn Camp. Cubs president Theo Epstein said he will like to bring Camp back. So, we will see if he comes back or not. He did have a great season and many teams will have interest in him.

The World Series is set to begin tomorrow (Wednesday, October 24th) between the Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants. I would like the Tigers to beat the Giants. I say the Tigers win in 6 games … GO TIGERS!
