Chicago Cubs talented outfielder sets high expectations for his new team

The Chicago Cubs enter this season with high expectations after missing the playoffs for the last five seasons.

The Cubs have had one of the better offseasons accomplishing all their goals they had set when the winter began.

The biggest move the Cubs made this offseason, was acquiring superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker in a trade with the Houston Astros. Tucker is entering the last year of his deal, and he’s looking to perform this season and hopefully help lead the Cubs to the postseason.

Tucker was acquired to be the face of the Cubs and be the quiet leader to help get them over the hump and make the postseason. Tucker is coming off a season in which he was primed to make a run for the MVP award before he went down with a shin injury.

Before going down with the injury, Tucker managed to play half of last season where he was named an American League All-Star. In 78 games Tucker had 13 doubles, 23 HRs, 49 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and had a slash line of .289/.408/.585 for an OPS and OPS+ of .993 and 181.

In one of his first scrums with the media, Tucker set the tone for the Cubs laying out the expectations Tucker has for himself and the Cubs, stating that his expectations are high!

Ending the post-season drought

The Cubs haven’t made the playoffs for five seasons and after a long wait, they will hopefully make a run this season.

Having Tucker on the roster, along with his other teammate Ryan Pressly, who will help lock down the bullpen, will certainly increase the Cubs’ chances.

This season should be exciting with games starting not too far down the road. It’s exciting to see and hear the sounds of baseball once again.
