Mariners 8, Cubs 1

Seattle — Cliff Lee (6-3) threw a complete game for the second time in a row to defeat  the Cubs in Seattle. The only blemish on his mark was a solo home run of the bat of rookie Tyler Colvin in the 2nd to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. After that all the offense belonged to the Mariners, who extended their win streak to 8 straight. Overall Lee scattered 8 hits and struck out 9 without issuing a walk. He now has 76 strikeouts to just 4 walks on the season.

Ichiro Suzuki and Michael Saunders led the Mariners’ bats. Both had two hits, Suzuki drove in two runs and Saunders drove in a career high 4 including a two run homer run in the 8th off Cubs reliever Sean Marshall, his 5th of the season. Randy Wells (3-6) pitched 6 innings allowing 6 run all earned.

Been following Chicago sports for many years. I have ties to Rockford, Illinois however have since been displaced in North Carolina far from Illinois. I am still an avid fan despite the geographical complications in following my teams. I am known as the internet’s #1 Rex Grossman connoisseur
