Did Justin Fields hint he wasn’t put in a position to succeed?

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields met with the media on Tuesday, as the team gears up for the NFL Draft next week in Vegas. There was plenty to be asked of the second year QB including his blossoming relationship with the new front office and coaching staff, but questions were still to be had about how Fields entered the league. Among them was the question of whether or not Fields was put in the best position to succeed in his rookie season. Fields’ answer? Not very long.

Justin Fields was asked if he was put in the best position to succeed last year.

His answer? "I don't know."

It's okay, we all know.

At this point, Fields is probably ready to move on and never hear another question about Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace for as long as he lives. While he didn’t have much to say on that, he did follow it up with a reflecting moment about what the experience means to his career.

“I’m thankful for all the experience….It’s just going to make me better.”

All eyes are on the former Buckeye as he enters year two with a new coaching staff that’s helping adjust his mechanics to get the ball out quicker including starting his drop back with his left foot, something offensive coordinator Luke Getsy feels helps him anticipate throws quicker. General Manager Ryan Poles also spoke at the presser, adding on that the team is fully focused on making sure Fields has everything he needs to succeed in his second year while also taking a slight dig at Nagy and company.

This is a bit old, but still love the backhanded shot at the former #Bears regime (or at least Nagy).

Ryan Poles regarding Justin Fields being in a position to succeed:

"Allowing him to do what he does best is going to allow him to grow from that point." #DaBears

Fields’ up and down rookie season saw him complete 58.9% of his passes for 1,870 yards, 7 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Next week we’ll all find out if he gets some new offensive weapons to add to his sophomore season, but regardless of the Bears’ draft plans, it appears it’s all systems go for Justin Fields.
