The Chicago Bulls’ season just went from bad to even worse.
CSN Chicago’s Vincent Goodwill reported earlier that Dwyane Wade will miss the remainder of the regular season after an MRI revealed a fracture in his right elbow, dealing a significant blow to the Bulls’ sagging playoff hopes.

Wade injured the elbow last night against the Memphis Grizzlies after getting tangled up with Cristiano Felicio and Memphis’ Zach Randolph while going for a rebound and did not return to the game. Unfortunately, everyone’s fears about the prognosis have come true.

The 35-year-old shooting guard had been averaging 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game this season, which will be a significant void to replace for Bulls team sitting just outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Also, given the ambiguous direction of the Bulls franchise going forward, it’s possible that Wade may have played his last game in Chicago, though he could also choose to opt into his $23.8m player option if he doesn’t think his free agent market will fetch a similar price tag.
For now, the only thing Wade has to look forward to is healing and rehab, perhaps in the hopes that he can return to action for the Bulls should they make the playoffs.
As if the Bulls didn’t have a hard enough road just to get to the postseason…
