Chicago White Sox third baseman Gage Workman made his first at-bat with the team on Tuesday night when he entered the seventh inning of the team’s 7-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers to pinch-hit.
On Wednesday night, Workman made his starting debut for the White Sox, but the outing was short-lived. Workman only had one at-bat before Miguel Vargas took his place at third base. The rookie infielder made a fielding error in the first inning with two outs, allowing the Brewers to take a 2-0 lead.
Milwaukee wound up defeating Chicago 6-4 in front of 10,253 fans at Rate Field.
Workman made several errors during his days with the Chicago Cubs, which is why they DFA’d him before trading the Rule 5 infielder to the White Sox. But he might have an excuse for his poor play on Wednesday night.
AN excuse for Gage Workman?

Per the White Sox, Workman has been placed on the 10-day injured list for a right hip flexor strain. Chase Meidroth is being reinstated.
“Prior to today’s series finale vs. Milwaukee, the Chicago White Sox reinstated rookie infielder Chase Meidroth from the 10-day injured list and placed infielder Gage Workman on the 10-day injured list with a right hip flexor strain,” per the White Sox on X.
