Even though there wasn’t any scoring for about the first 14 minutes, there was plenty of action. Countless times the announcer had to tell NIEMI!
However with about 6 minutes left in the period, the announcer had a change of voice. This time he had to yell ANDREW LADD! Ladd skated just past the blue line and fired the one timer just by the left glove of Nabokov(assists to Steeger and Duncs).
Nabokov was also brilliant as the Ladd goal was the only puck he allowed in the net.
The pace so far favors the Hawks so expect them to come out with a lot of speed and intensity as they did in the 1st period.
WOW. The only way I can think of to describe that 2nd period. ELECTRIC is another. 40 minutes of none stop, hard hitting, Old Time Hockey, that was the 2nd period. Kaner got things started off with a one timer from about the blue line. It looked like it was tipped in by Big Buff but the goal was given to Kane. Later in the period Duncan Keith fired one from the Blue line which was re-directed by Toews. Buff did a great job of blocking Nabokov’s view. The Sharks did get one back after being down 3-0 as Patrick Marleau put one in the back of the net to make it 3-1, and that is how the period would end. Feeeeew, I needed to catch by breath!
And this game is OVA! The Blackhawks have no taken a 2- series lead against the Sharks in this best of 7 series. The next 2 games will be played at the United Center In Chicago. The Hammer as he is known around Chicago made this a 4-1 game in the 3rd to take the Shark maniacs out of it. Patrick Marleau did score late in the 3rd but it went for none as the Hawks beat the Sharks 4-2. The high intensity, run and gun if you will play by the Hawks couldn’t be stopped by the Sharks. The Sharks were continuously frustrated and found themselves to get stupid penalties. Thornton was sent to the box for slashing Dave Bolland on a face off and Sharks players insisted on fighting with 17.2 seconds left in the game.
The Hawks will look to take a 3-0 series lead Friday night at the United Center in Chicago.
