The IceHogs soundly spanked the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday evening, winning 6-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Wolves were the first to get up on the board in the second frame. The IceHogs answered back one minute later with a goal by Evan Mosey. Sam Carrick then scored a mere 20 seconds later. This prompted the Wolves to change goaltenders, from Phoenix Copley to Jordan Binnington. Changing goalies didn’t seem to matter as the IceHogs’ Carl Dahlstrom scored one minute later and Tanner Kero thirty seconds after that. The final goal in the 2nd frame was by the Wolves. Who lit the fire under the IceHogs? Thank You, who ever you are.

The third period brought an additional goals by Sam Carrick and Jake Dowell for the IceHogs. It also brought a grand total of 76 penalty minutes, divided between both teams. The IceHogs had two back-to-back 5 on 3 man power plays during the 3rd frame, but failed to score. Then all hell broke loose at 18:53 mark, a disagreement between Rockford’s PC LaBrie and the Wolve’s Jordan Binnington at a puck drop that went south. Both LaBrie and Binnington were each given 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct,  5 minutes for fighting and a 10 minute game misconduct-fighting at puck drop. LaBrie also was given a 2 minute roughing penalty. Also, a 2nd fight broke out during that time, between Rockford’s Jake Dowell and Chicago’s Vince Dunn. They both earned themselves 5 minutes for fighting and 10 minute game misconduct-secondary altercation. At one point, it looking like they was going to be a goalie fight, as Binnington was calling out Lars Johansson. Johansson did drop his equipment near the blue line, but alas the dance was cancelled.

Top 3 Stars of the Game honors went to IceHogs players – Sam Carrick, Evan Mosey and Tyler Barnes.

Next home game is next Wednesday, December 28th against the Wolves.
