Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson will join striker and 2013 Major League Soccer MVP Mike Magee at the United States Men’s National Team Training Camp in January.  The camp will begin on Jan. 6 and end on Feb. 1 at the Stubhub Center in Carson, California, home of both Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy.

Twenty-three players from the camp will travel to Brazil, hosts of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, from Jan. 13-25.

The training camp will end with an international friendly against South Korea on Feb. 1.  Johnson has been invited to national team camps frequently in the past few years, while for Magee, it marks his first chance to represent his home nation.

Twenty-six players in total were invited to the camp, including almost exclusively MLS players looking to make the roster as the European seasons remain in progress.

Johnson is one of four goalkeepers to be invited, along with Houston’s Tally Hall, D.C.’s Bill Hamid and Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando.  Magee is one of four strikers to be invited, along with LA’s Landon Donovan, D.C.’s Eddie Johnson and San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski.

Ten defenders were invited to the camp: Sporting Kansas City’s Matt Besler, Seattle’s Brad Evans, LA’s Omar Gonzalez, San Jose’s Clarence Goodson, Portland’s Michael Harrington, Colorado’s Chris Klute, Sporting Kansas City’s Chance Myers, Colorado’s Shane O’Neill, Sporting Kansas City’s Seth Sinovic and Seattle’s DeAndre Yedlin.  Eight midfielders were invited: New York’s Eric Alexander, Real Salt Lake’s Kyle Beckerman, Houston’s Brad Davis, Rosenborg’s Max Diskerud, Sporting Kansas City’s Benny Feilhaber, Real Salt Lake’s Luis Gil, New York’s Dax McCarty and Sporting Kansas City’s Graham Zusi.
