The Chicago Bears entire 2016 draft class is under contract, thanks to the final piece of the puzzle, third round pick Jonathan Bullard signing today.
Taken 72nd overall, Bullard looks to be an end/interior pass rusher in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 scheme. Bullard recorded 6.5 sacks with 63 tackles last season as a member of the Florida Gators. He was described as “quick and explosive” by NFL Network’s Mike Mayock and as someone who compares well to Mario Edwards.
It was a surprise that Jonathan Bullard lasted until the third round, as many analysts saw him as a late first, mid-second round pick. The Bears added him to complement Ego Ferguson, Eddie Goldman and Akiem Hicks.
Bullard could very well be one of the steals of the entire draft.

It is also worth mentioning that the days of rookie holdouts are long gone, as the new CBA structure slots the contract that the young players can earn, which is great for all parties involved. Teams aren’t dropping $78 million on a rookie like the now Los Angeles Rams did with quarterback Sam Bradford back in 2010.
