It’s a busy week for some of the top high school basketball recruits in the nation. The McDonald’s All American game will take place Wednesday at the United Center, but before the game comes the events. Monday night hosted the skills challenge, three-point shootout and McDonald’s dunk contest which featured a few participants from the Chicago area.

Marian Catholic’s Tyler Ulis participated in both the skills challenge and three-point challenge as he was nursing a turf toe problem that has bothered him for weeks. Ulis showed no signs of the injury as he made it to the finals in both events, but couldn’t take home either event.

Ulis finished second to Duke recruit Tyler Ulis who posted a time of 28.1 seconds. Ulis finished the course in 31.9. He picked up another second-place finish in the three-point contest scoring 20 points in the event. Indiana recruit James Blackmon Jr. won the event with 23 points.

The big event came in the form of the McDonald’s Jam Fest which featured Currie star Cliff Alexander. The Kansas recruit entered the competition Monday after initially saying he wouldn’t participate this year.  Currie’s first and only dunk earned him a score of 49, which was not good enough to move on to the next round.

Top prospect and Whitney Young star Jahlil Okafor participated in the skills challenge but failed to reach the finals.

Okafor and Ulis will represent the West squad in Wednesdays All American game while Curry will take the court on the East team. There are still tickets available for the event which features the Girls game starting at 6 p.m. CT and the Boys game following at 7 p.m. CT.
