Justin Fields ‘has no shot at all’ in 2022 for this big reason, according to Analyst

Justin Fields doesn’t have a lot of talent to work with this year

Justin Fields was screwed by the Chicago Bears management in 2021. Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy didn’t set up the rookie quarterback for any kind of success. Their replacements, Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus, haven’t impressed one analyst.

The Bears lack elite talent at the wide receiver and offensive line positions. Dan Orlovsky, former NFL career quarterback backup and current analyst, noted the Bears haven’t helped Fields much in the offseason. The disparity between Fields and his rookie-class-quarterback colleagues is especially shocking.

How much money their teams spent on 2nd year QB supporting cast for 2022 season:

Patriots (108M, most)
Jets (90M, 4th-most)
Jags (89M, 7th-most)
Bears ($52M, 2nd-fewest)

Fields has no shot at all. Get him to 2023 and than make your assessment

The Bears spent $37 million less than the next team, the Jacksonville Jaguars spent on Trevor Lawrence’s development. The Patriots spent over twice as much as the Bears for Mac Jones’s help. Even if Fields thinks the Bears will be ready by the time the season starts, I’m not convinced. Not with this group, especially the weak offensive line. Orlovsky is correct the Bears’ best hope is to get to 2023.

Is it time to start talking about benching Fields for his health in 2022?

Cap space excuse doesn’t cut it for Bears apologists when it comes to not helping Justin Fields

Bears media and fans excuse the team for not supporting Justin Fields as a necessary development with the cap space Poles inherited. The Bears have the second-most dead cap space in 2022. However, the Bears had the 6th-most cap space before free agency this year.

More than free agency being a bust, Poles chose the secondary over wide receiver and offensive line with the Bears’ first two draft choices. Poles is treating Fields like a rabbit mother that commits infanticide against its offspring following the youngling’s injury. Other analysts have raised their voices about a potential “Bruce effect” going on inside Halas Hall.

Poles has a few months to pony up and spare some dimes to aid Fields. Matt Eberflus told reporters last week that following minicamp last Thursday, he’d meet with Poles staff to assess the roster. Let’s hope that conversation included getting a wide receiver that can play the “X” and an offensive lineman that doesn’t cannibalize (Poles chose Dakota Dozier because he wanted to help Fields?) his own quarterback.
