Chicago Blackhawks’ defenseman Duncan Keith is set to have a hearing today with the NHL Department of Player safety for a high-sticking penalty against LA’s Jeff Carter at 7:58 in the second period of Tuesday night’s game at the Staples Center. Keith was assessed a double-minor penalty for the offense after drawing blood on the hit.
According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Keith’s hearing will be over the phone at 12:30 p.m. CT.

The Department of Player Safety will review the incident and take into account aspects such as Keith’s career, the official rules of the call and the call on the ice. An answer is expected before Thursday night’s game in LA.
Keith received a 5-game suspension in the 2011 – 2012 postseason for an elbow to the head of Vancouver Canucks’ Daniel Sedin. It is the only documented supplemental discipline in Keith’s 8-year NHL career.
