If you thought things couldn’t get worse for the 2017 Chicago Cubs, then you thought wrong.
During Wednesday’s game against the Washington Nationals Kris Bryant had to be helped off the field. Bryant caught a routine pop fly by catcher Matt Wieters in the fifth inning, but then rolled his ankle after stepping on third base.

As you can see, Bryant needed help getting off the field and did not return to the game. Following the game, the Cubs called it a mild strain and no decision on the DL has been made yet:
Mild to moderate right ankle sprain for Bryant, x-rays came back negative. No word on DL yet.

ESPN reporter Jesse Rogers provided some interesting information:

The Cubs have trailed all game after starter John Lackey gave up 8 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. They eventually lost 8-4.
If Bryant is lost for a significant amount of time, it would be a major hit to the Cubs hopes of winning the NL Central Division.
